Boilover! started because of the lack of information about boils and their associated diseases. Here are some of our landmarks! February 10, 1999: After an exhaustive internet search, I found that there was little to no information on the condition known as Hidradenitis Suppurativa. What information there was seemed to be very well hidden, in that the search engines just hadn't found the gems that WERE available. I decided I had to write and let people know I had this problem and let them know about any other sites available. I started a website hosted at GeoCities. Summer, 1999: The site took a more "general" approach, basically away from only concentrating on Hidradenitis as a diagnosis, and more towards the treatment of boils. This was in an attempt to attract those who might not know of the actual disorder/diagnosis and provide a more practical site regarding the treatment & prevention of boils. November, 1999: I left GeoCities and moved the site to a paid server. This was around the time GeoCities decided they wanted to own a little piece of every website they hosted and forced advertising became ridiculous. August, 2000: We finally got our own domain name - Boilover.net! November, 2000: I opened up a forum / message board so that people could chat with one another. 2001: Started a Reader's Tips section August, 2003: Complete re-design of the site.
