prescription drugs

Accutane: Prescription drug used in the treatment of severe acne. Has also been used to treat recurring boils.

Antibiotics: Long-term trials of certain types of antibiotics are sometimes prescribed.

Topical preparations: Various topical preparations can be prescribed. These include antiseptic cleansers, antibiotic gels & ointments, etc.

Surgery: Doctors might also suggest surgery. Some patients undergo a surgery to remove the sweat glands in areas where boils flare-up often. While some people have reported some success with this, others have said that it only results in a short "remission" before boils start appearing again.
